Liberty Mutual has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paralegal Coordinator to join our team in our Portland Legal Services Unit. Liberty Mutual regularly sources paralegal talent for its professional legal services operation. Our positions will facilitate growth in two key areas: insurance defense expertise and the use of technology to deliver paralegal services remotely. We provide support from a centralized location to attorneys in Liberty Mutual staff legal offices.
Responsibilities:
Supervises day-to-day paralegal operations within a practice group. Establishes priorities, schedules and assigns work, adjusts schedules to meet completion dates, and assists with resolving complex problems.
Trains and develops staff. Deals decisively with performance and/or conduct issues using the performance management process.
Evaluates staffing needs and ensures staffing levels are appropriate for the workload. Recruits, interviews, and hires paralegal and temporary staff. Ensures all positions are adequately understudied.
Analyzes workloads, data quality reports and timekeeping reports to ensure compliance with data quality and timekeeping requirements.
Performs day-to-day paralegal tasks.
Supports internal and external business process efforts, interacting with all levels of management and proactively supporting clients.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
Paralegal certificate preferred. Requires 5-7 years working experience as a Paralegal.
Requires strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, policyholders, direct reports and management.
Must be able to exercise independent judgment yet work effectively with management and within the expected and defined role behaviors.
Must display effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel and corporate databases.
