WebMD Health Services is looking for an experienced technology senior manager to help create and support our next generation of web-based health management solutions. In this role you will manage one or two cross-functional team that will be charged with delivering or supporting our web applications in an agile software development and support environment. Our ideal candidate is an experienced and successful people manager with a track record of building and supporting software that delights its users. This person must know how to hire and grow talent, motivate others, and provide excellent team and technical leadership. The senior manager will be responsible for mentoring other front line managers.
Ensure that teams have the direction and resources to deliver on their commitments
Motivate teams and individuals to achieve objectives
Help team members to resolve technical and non-technical problems
Provide technical leadership and grow technical leaders within the team
Demonstrate and teach best practices in iterative and lean software development and support
Hire technical staff and manage individual performance
Guide career progression for others and facilitate skills development
Actively take on director-level tasks and mentoring responsibilities
A BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field (preferred)

years developing or supporting commercial software for the web

years managing members of a technology team
Skills
Familiar with lean / agile development (Scrum, XP, or similar methodology)
Proficient as an individual contributor in software development, software testing, web system administration, user interface design, or database architecture
Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication
Highly energized with a passion for software craftsmanship
Knowledge of TDD, ATDD, or DDD a plus.
