This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
This is a part-time (0.5) FTE position. Schedule will be evenings from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and fair share Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Salary will be $15.31 to $20.63/hour. This position is located in SE Portland.
Functions/Duties of Position
Medical receptionist position at Richmond includes; scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out for appointments, verifying demographics and insurance, answering phone calls, collecting payments, paperwork, assisting with a backup duty (cross trained to help cover referrals, billing, eligibility, medical records, etc.), attending meetings, ensure that the environment is clean and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR
One year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position.
Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
Accurate message taking
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to multitask
MS office (excel and word)
Excellent organizational skills
PREFERRED:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in business or other health care related field.
Previous family practice experience
Previous experience working in a low income clinic (Federally qualified health center or rural health center)
Previous experience with culturally diverse patients
Bi-lingual: Russian or Spanish or Vietnamese
Medical terminology

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hours: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday and Saturdays 8:30 - 1:00 pm
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer.
Able to handle a fast paced work environment with multiple time sensitive completing demands.
