This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
This is a part time (0.6 FTE) position. Schedule will be Thrusday, Friday and Saturday from 1700 to 0130. Salary will be $15.31 to $20.63/hour. This position is located on the Marquam Hill campus.
Functions/Duties of Position
The purpose of this position is to greet and arrive patients presenting to the Emergency department, interview patients to obtain demographic, accident, and financial information in order to facilitate patient care and billing. This position supports Oregon Health & Sciences University's mission by providing excellent customer service to every patient, patient family member, visitors, and staff who present to any area of the Patient Access Services Department, either in person, via telephone, or electronic communications.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR
One year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position OR
Successful completion of the PAS Trainee position.
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service and ability to walk and stand for 6-8 hours/day, position is extremely mobile.
Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate in a calm and business like manner, excellent customer service skills, must have a demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employers, demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, which promote cooperation and team work.
PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in a hospital, medical office or business office preferred.
Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish.
Registration experience.
