Functions/Duties of Position
This position is for a director of the OBI Brain Tumor Program within the Neurosciences Service Line at OHSU. It represents a collaboration among the Departments of Neurological Surgery, Neurology, and the Knight Cancer Institute.
Clinical
Responsibilities: The Brain Tumor Program Director will manage the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for adult patients with brain tumors. The primary provider responsibility for these patients will be shared with members of the OHSU Brain Institute, and care for this patient population will be coordinated with neurosurgery, neurology, radiation medicine, and hematology-oncology. Further development of the existing multi-disciplinary Neuro-oncology clinic, Pediatrics, and tumor board will be directed by this clinical leader.
Research
Responsibilities: The director will develop and actively participate in clinical trials and research, as well as various multi-institutional and investigator-initiated trials. He or she will also increase the number of clinical trials available to patients at OHSU. This activity will be performed in cooperation with the Knight Cancer Institute.
Leadership
Responsibilities: The director is responsible to develop and execute the framework and management of the Brain Tumor program across OHSU. Also, to teach all levels of learners in the care of patients with brain tumors and to engage in significant scholarly activities as it relates to the Neuro-oncology subspecialty.
Job Requirements
Required:
An M.D. degree.
Oregon medical licensure or eligibility for licensure.
Board Certification or eligibility for Board Certification in Neurology or Neurosurgery.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently.
