Functions/Duties of Position
The duties of this position revolve around teaching, research, and clinical activities.
Teaching duties involve participating in the education and training of medical and nursing students, house staff, and the regional medical community. The faculty member will be expected to make a didactic presentation at the Division's Grand Rounds at least four times per year.
The research component of the position involves establishing and maintaining scholarly research activity directed toward the improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases
The clinical component of the position involves providing clinical care to patients at the University Hospitals and Clinics, as well as affiliated hospitals and clinics, and engaging in public service through consultative activities in the appointee's specialty with non-University groups
Job Requirements
Required:
M.D.
Board Certification in General Surgery
Board Eligibility in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Ability to be a self-starter and organized
Ability to work as a team member and also independently
Possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude
Possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written and active listening)
Flexible to work all day as necessary for patient demand Monday through Friday with some weekends during assigned call shifts
Preferred:
Experience and fellowship in microvascular surgery
