Work Unit Description
The Knight Cancer Institute is a large and complex program whose mission is to develop excellence in fundamental cancer research and facilitate the translation of that research into improvements in cancer patient care, to provide world class cancer care to the residents of Oregon and Southwest Washington and to make the incidence of cancer in these areas the lowest in the nation.
Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; occasional nights and weekends work required; 1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $22.75-30.86/hour; Location: Marquam Hill.
Functions/Duties of Position
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement . The Finance Analyst will be an integral part of the Knight's central finance team. This position will be primarily and predominately responsible for post award monitoring of grants, contracts, and service agreements.
Job Requirements
Minimum requirements include:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university. If from a related field, candidate must have 18 hours of accounting courses from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of directly related experience will also be considered.
Proficiency in the use of computers, including spreadsheet applications;
1 year of professional healthcare and/or relevant financial analysis experience;
Ability to analyze and development comprehensive reports;
Ability to interpretation of complex data; Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time and avoid crisis;
Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems;
Excellent skills with computers running Windows and PC applications e.g. MS Excel, Oracle, Access, Word and PowerPoint;
Excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person;
The energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously;
The ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.
Additional Details
Applicants must be able to sit for long periods of time; attend meetings in person in a wide range of locations on Marquam Hill, South Waterfront and areas of downtown Portland; transport meeting materials; reach overhead as necessary to grasp books or other work related material; talk in person or by telephone and operate various equipment to include a computer, video, overhead projector or other electronic projection equipment, and calculator; work efficiently in an environment with constant interruption and work on a computer for 3-4 hours at a time; and lift and carry up to 20lbs.
