Functions/Duties of Position
Job duties include:
Clinical: 80% of time will be spent in clinical cardiology, with the majority of clinical duties will focus on the care of adults with congenital heart disease. These duties will include time in outpatient clinics and echo reading sessions (including adult transesophageal and stress echocardiography). Daily inpatient adult congenital heart disease care responsibilities will rotate with two other providers. In addition, up to 8 weeks (generally 2 weeks each rotation) a year will be spent serving as an attending physician on the adult inpatient general cardiology services (CCU or consult). The majority of these activities will involve fellows and/or residents. Serving as an attending in our outreach programs may also be required depending on availability and the divisional needs.
Research: If you participate in clinical or basic research, your clinical FTE will be adjusted based on the salary you receive from these endeavors. We expect you to collaborate with your colleagues in clinical research and develop a portfolio of clinical research activities that are funded from extramural sources (industry or peer-reviewed grants).
Education: As teaching is an important portion of the cardiology mission you will be responsible for the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. You will spend 20% of your time on these activities.
Job Requirements
Required:
Licensed MD, Board Certified in Adult Cardiology, with advanced training in both adult congenital heart disease and echocardiography.
Preferred:
Prior experience in clinical research and working in an academic health facility.
