This is a Research Position
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; 1.0 FTE; Salary starting at $32,000; Location: Center for Health and Healing, South Waterfront.
Functions/Duties of Position
The Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at OHSU has an open senior research assistant position in the laboratory of Dr. Summer Gibbs. The senior research assistant will develop protein-labeling strategies for high-resolution microscopy technologies including super resolution microscopy and correlative light and electron microscopy. These strategies will be applied to characterizing the immune complexity in breast cancer biopsy specimens as well as imaging the spatial heterogeneity in breast cancer specimens.
The successful applicant will evaulate and quantify the suite of known protein labeling strategies including antibodies and antibody fragments, aptamers, genetically encoded tags, and small molecules for their ability to label total protein content within cells. In vitro evaluations will be completed on artifical protein systems for quantification followed by validation in cell culture and tissue biopsy specimens. Successful labeling strategies will be applied to improving understanding of the immune component of breast cancer as well as disease heterogeneity using a combination of super resolution microscopy and correlative light and electron microscopy.
Job Requirements
Required:
Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research and 1 to 3 years of relevant lab experience.
Protein labeling strategies, fluorescence imaging, high resolution microscopy experience.
Preferred:
M.S. in related field.
Two or more year's lab experience.
