Camp Counselors, Cooks, & Kitchen Assistants Needed

Celebrating 90 years of summer camp focused on building caring, confident youth and future leaders, we are looking for high quality, dedicated counselers that can make the magic of Camp Namanu come alive for this summer's campers.
At Resident camp we offer Resident and Ranch Camp experience for campers from 6-18 years old. Located outside of Sandy, Oregon, Camp Namanu sits on 552 acres of vibrant wilderness near Mt. Hood. Resident and Ranch camp staff enjoy room and board during training and throughout the duration of the summer programming.
Compensation for Camp Counselors is variable, depending on experience.
Our kitchen is a busy place, serving well over 200 campers and 60 counselors each week. Our cooks/kitchen assistants work alongside and take direction from our head cooks to make wholesome meals, almost all of which are made from scratch. While we do have a volunteer summer crew that specializes with cleaning most of the dishes, our cooks/kitchen assistants should be willing and able to perform the wide variety of tasks associated with running a kitchen, prepping food, cleaning, and cooking for large groups. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys cooking and considers themselves to be a team player.
We are looking for kitchen staff who are able to:
Work hard and accomplish tasks efficiently.
Follow directions and accept supervision.
Ask questions when they don't know the answer
Have a positive attitude
Be punctual and reliable.
Work in a smoke-free and tobacco-free environment.
Manage stress and meet timelines
Minimum Skills and
Qualifications:
1) Skills with and understanding of basic cooking techniques.
2) Experience with kitchen work, preferably cooking for large groups is a benefit, but we are willing to train the right people.
3) Must hold a current Food Handler's card
4) Must be able to pass a criminal background check and National Sex Offender Registry check as a condition of employment
5) Ability to use kitchen equipment safely.
6) Ability to lift and carry boxes and bags up to 50 pounds, take out recycling and garbage, retrieve and put dishes away, and generally move about a four room kitchen.
Compensation for cooks and kitchen assistants begins at $11 an hour. Cooks and kitchen assistants may choose to live on-site or commute to Camp Namanu.
