Description
This position is responsible for pre and post-release mentoring services for young men, 18 - 25, incarcerated in Oregon jails and prisons that need support transitioning back to life in the community. Participants come from a diversity of backgrounds, family structures and cultures, and we seek mentors who have experienced similar situations during their own transition to a crime free life. This position is responsible for providing mentoring services in the Community Partners Reinvestment (CPR) program.

Requirements
HS/GED
Valid driver's license, acceptable driver's record, and a reliable form of transportation.
If in recovery, a minimum of two years clean time.
No longer on community supervision for a period of at least five years. (Required to gain entrance into prison and jail.)
A reasonable combination of skills and experience in gang-related services, treatment issues, corrections, case management, and/or adolescent development.
Familiarity with the community and the ethnic culture of the assigned population of focus including but not limited to knowledge of culture, norms, values and language.
Knowledge of gangs/risks associated with gang participation in the Portland-metro area.
Knowledge of local resources and links to community.
Excellent communication, record-keeping, and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Computer and data base management skills
Personal experience disassociating from criminal activity, particularly gangs, is strongly preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
