This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. Schedule will be flexible, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Salary: $18.84 to $25.25/hour. This position is available to telecommute.
Functions/Duties of Position
The Billing Coordinator performs and assists with all aspects of medical billing processes on behalf of the OHSU Department of Family Medicine.
1. Works with all levels of clinic staff as needed and as relevant to impact on billing processes and reimbursement. Educates FM Dept., faculty, residents, nursing staff, support staff in general reimbursement processes, issues, fees, coding, billing procedures.
2. Works with OHSU billing agents at University Medical Group and Patient Business Services, OHSU ITG, and OCHIN to maintain charge generation and revenue stream.
3. Works with Enterprise Coding to facilitate resolution of coding-related issues, to review clinical procedures/protocol for coding/billing potential, to develop and delivery clinician and support staff education.
4. Utilizes knowledge/expertise of professional fee, institutional, FQHC, RHC billing to ensure departmental billing is processed in a timely manner and in accordance with regulatory compliance.
Serves as a billing, coding, and reimbursement resource for departmental staff and clinicians.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Four years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
An Associate's degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
A Bachelor's degree and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must be familiar with billing and coding practices, as well as having working knowledge of medical terminology.
Additional Details
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hours: 8 hours plus 30 minutes lunch break M-F, consistent daily.
Some flexibility to start time.
This position will require departmental, campus, and clinic presence.
Employees will be required to attend meetings on the OHSU campus and in offsite clinics no less than once per month, will be required to be available onsite to providers, training on the main OHSU campus and in clinics and other venues, and will be required to attend meetings with management and colleagues on a regular basis (no less than once per month).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Kneeling, bending, moving computer equipment as needed, sitting or standing for long periods.
Some local travel between Marquam Hill campus, billing agency offices, offsite clinics, and offsite conferences may be required.
Transportation arrangements to be taken into consideration.
