University Medical Group, the preferred Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) medical billing service, has an opening for an Insurance Follow Up Supervisor. This position provides direct supervision and support to reimbursement specialists and clerical support staff that are responsible for resolution of insurance denials. This position is responsible for working with various departments (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, etc.) and includes the full revenue billing cycle (billing, denials, cash posting, customer service).

University Medical Group, the preferred Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) medical billing service, has an opening for an Insurance Follow Up Supervisor.
Functions/Duties of Position
Duties Include

Plan and develop departmental activities, including performance standards, workload distribution, trend analysis and alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain effective systems to provide departmental support in such activities as goal setting, payroll review, annual reviews and staffing levels.
Review insurance processing denials and errors with Lead.
Communicate with departments and insurance companies to request information needed to complete account transactions, address urgent requests and/or resolve outstanding account issues.
Monitor overall departmental performance and transaction status, identifying areas of improvement and corrective actions needed, and communicate with staff and Manager to ensure efficient and effective department operations.
Develop, implement and review workflows and procedures in addition to notifying staff of any changes
Maintain professional and positive relations with inter-office and intra-office staff, third party contacts, and customers.
Promote UMG as the preferred OHSU billing service to all clients. _

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting/business or equivalent work experience of at least four years is strongly preferred. Must be able to demonstrate progressive responsibility and leadership skills
Experience with billing and collections in a health care environment, including knowledge of HIPAA regulations, CPT and ICD-9 codes and insurance claim processing, is required
Knowledge of Billing Rural (RHC) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Alternate Payment Methodology is desired
Requires extensive analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate decisions, procedures and processes to a diverse group of people.
A positive attitude; comfortable with change; and the ability to find root cause issues and implement corrective solutions
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and listening skills, as well as demonstrated business writing skills, are required.
Knowledge of Epic is preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
