This is a relief (0.0 FTE) position. Schedule is variable. The salary range for this position is $15.16 - $20.43/hour. This position is located at the Marquam Hill campus.
Functions/Duties of Position
This position coordinates and produces high quality patient meals, coordinates patient menus assembly and oversees haccp procedures. Practices safe food handling and takes corrective action to any out of compliance occurrences with other cooks or tray line services. Must have presentation and food safety knowledge. Responsible for directing other cooks in proper preparation techniques and trains food service workers in assembling and methods of service and presentation.
Responsible for the coordination of patient related menu items and directing other cooks and service workers in methods and procedures. This position needs to be capable of covering all #2 positions. This lead cook role is expected to be mission orientated and be flexible to adjust to business demands and mission requirements. The position needs to be a facilitator and coordinator in conjunction with the sous chefand executive chef.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Three years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial firm serving complete meals.
OR An Associate's degree in Food Service Management, Foods and Hospitality Service, or a directly related field.
Some positions in this class may require one or more of the following:
Basic knowledge of therapeutic diets.
Skills in checking trays to ensure diets have been accurately followed.
Ability to participate in menu planning, recipe development, and testing.
Ability to obtain the appropriate county food handler's card.
This position requires serve safe certification as soon as possible after assignment.
Working knowledge, safe operation and sanitation of high volume commercial cooking equipment.
Personal basic safety and sanitation skills.
Exemplary hygiene standards and effective team motivation, be able to work independently from a recipe and verbal instruction.
PREFERRED:
5 years' experience minimum in a high volume food service establishment.
Hotel or high volume restaurant catering experience needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to loud noise, heat, grease, cold.
Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday7:30am-4pm, there are situations when you are required to adjust your schedule in order to avoid compromising the production schedule or adherence to quality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:
This position will be required to continually stand for 4 hours at a time, and throughout the 8 hour shift.
Walking continuously on hard surfaces, floor mats are essential where ever possible.
Carrying up to 20lbs, carts are available and are recommended.
Lifting: weight up to 50lbs occasionally.
PUSHING /PULLING: food carts, which weigh 100 - 150lbs.
BENDING: frequently, using leg muscles not back muscles during loading and unloading.
REACHING/HANDLING/DEXTERITY: some overhead reaching is required, hand -eye coordination is required using shape knives and cutting utensils, working around hot cooking oils, water, open flames and heated ovens. Continuous hand and wrist movement with knives is often required.
TWISTING, CLIMBING, and CRAWLING: are all physical demands that could be a part of the job, but would not be a normal course of action. You will seek immediate instruction from a manager or supervisor to any piece of equipment tool or utensil that you are unfamiliar or do not know the safety characteristics or operational procedures

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
