This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) position. Schedule will be Sunday through Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM. The salary range for this position is $15.78 - $21.15/hour. This position is located at the Marquam Hill campus.
Functions/Duties of Position
To support Oregon Health Sciences University's mission by providing exemplary customer service to all patients, patient families, visitors, and staff who present to any area of Patient Access Services Department either in person or via telephone. To greet, interview, register and pre-register patients scheduled for hospital admission.
Obtains and records demographic and insurance data to assure accurate patient identification to facilitate payment and compliance to all regulatory requirements. Performs employee requirements as outlined in Compliance Roles and Responsibilities, Code of Conduct and Respect at the University for OHSU Hospital and Clinics.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact.
OR one year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position.
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
Basic computer skills, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service and ability to walk and stand for 6-8 hours/day, position is extremely mobile.
Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate in a calm and business-like manner, excellent customer service skills, must have a demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employers, demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, which promote cooperation and team work.
PREFERRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in a hospital, medical office or business office preferred.
Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish.
Registration experience.
Additional Details
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:
This position requires continuous use of hands to enter data using a computer keyboard and mouse.
This position requires a lot of walking and standing every day.
