Functions/Duties of Position
The Women's Health Project Coordinator works to create, develop, promote, fund, and implement educational and outreach programs for the Center for Women's Health in concert with CWH clinical, communications, and outreach staff. The Coordinator works to garner interest and promote the benefits and importance of CWH work, achievements and initiatives to key internal and external constituencies (e.g., staff; community partner agencies; current and prospective patients, referring providers, donors; and the general public). Primary responsibilities include development and coordination (and sometimes instruction) of classes offered within the CWH, including supervision of instructors, class evaluation, curriculum development, pursuit of new offerings, etc.; assist with the coordination of educational and outreach events and materials available to patients and supporters of CWH; and assists with professional education and development programs within the CWH, such as CME events, and public lectures and activities. In partnership with others across OHSU, participates in outreach with the community to further the strategic and mission related goals of Women's programming at OHSU. This position is responsible for the management/coordination of the volunteer force within the Center for Women's Health and participates in budgeting discussions and feasibility planning. The Coordinator is also responsible for the human resources functions related to instructors including scheduling, certification and compliance, as well as staff supervision and development.
Job Requirements
Requirements include:
A bachelor's degree in public health, education, applied social or behavioral sciences, or related field, and four years' experience administering or coordinating parts or subsets of educational and/or outreach projects or programs;
A minimum of 12 years' experience working in related field, particularly with leadership experience, can be substituted for completion of academic degree;
A minimum of four years' experience with health education in individual, group, and community setting;
A minimum of two years' experience leading a paid and/or volunteer workforce;
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
A clear understanding of the importance of customer service;
Ability to relate well to staff and be able to select and train volunteers;
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and attending to deadlines;
Strong organization skills;
Meticulous attention to detail;
Ability to juggle a variety of responsibilities;
Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced, often stressful environment;
Skill in educating and mentoring;
Reliability and consistent attendance is essential;
Able to communicate with physicians, patients, volunteers, major donors and members of the community in a professional manner;
Demonstrated experience with adult educational teaching theory and applications;
Certified as a Childbirth Educator by ICEA, Lamaze International, or similar national organization with established certification criteria, or able to meet these criteria within one year of hire.

Applicants must be willing and able to travel occasionally; lift and carry up to 30 pounds; stand for 8 continuous hours a day; and push heavy carts.
