Functions/Duties of Position
The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, within the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a board certified medical oncologist with substantial training and experience in clinical research, faculty development and mentorship, program development, and treating patients with breast cancer. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional clinician with excellent communication and team building skills with a strong commitment to faculty mentorship, program growth, patient and team centered care. The breast oncologist will lead the Breast Cancer Team and be expected to support faculty research efforts and also grow a successful profile of collaborative trials with the NCI, NSABP, SWOG and other research organizations and interests. As part of a university practice and as a member of the Knight Cancer Institute, the only NCI designated cancer center in the state, there is opportunity to participate in clinical, translational and robust bench research activities all of which are well-supported by the Knight Cancer Institute infrastructure and a new Phase 1 Clinical Trials Program.
The duties of this position include:
The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include: Clinical and translational research in breast cancer, teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, and the medical and scientific community is expected in accordance with the standard faculty appointment requirements at the Oregon health & Science University. Care for patients with breast cancer in a multidisciplinary setting outpatient setting and inpatient oncology service. Duties will be mainly focused within the division of Hematology and Medical Oncology. When on service the position will be required to attend on the Medical Oncology Service, which includes both the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center and University Hospital. Leadership of the breast cancer program of the Knight Cancer Institute, in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair; establish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection and treatment of disease; carry out basic research in division research space assigned by the Division Chief; participate in administrative committees and councils of the OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Chief; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Chief.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
OHSU seeks a senior leader with experience in clinical program management and an established practice.
Graduate of accredited medical school program.
Graduate of formal specialty training program in Medical Hematology and/or Medical Oncology.
Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialty of Medical Hematology and/or Medical Oncology or equivalent certification
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Oregon or eligible for such licensure.
