### SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to investigate and resolve complex liability claims and litigation which stem from general liability and druggist liability incident exposures. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.
### ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Review and investigate general liability and druggist liability lawsuits to minimize the corporations' claim exposures.
Review pleadings, discovery requests, medical records and investigative materials to assist outside counsel in defending cases in litigation.
Confer with outside counsel surrounding litigation strategy and expert retention.
Interact with excess carriers on complex matters.
Attend depositions, mediations, and court conferences, as required.
Manage legal expenses by reviewing legal invoices for relevancy and accuracy.
Open, close, and adjust reserves in accordance with industry practices to ensure actuarial adequacy.
Maintain and update claim database with litigation related information to ensure integrity of claim handling and future actuarial needs.
Participate in quarterly Settlement Days to facilitate file closures.
Utilize internal and external resources (internet, other departments, store personnel, management, etc.) when appropriate in the handling and resolution of lawsuits.

### Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
This position requires the following:
Valid driver's license for attending trials, arbitrations, court conferences.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Risk Management, plus five to seven (5-7) years' experience in Insurance or Legal industry such as Claims, Paralegal and/or Attorney; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
