Markets and Policy Reporter
Summary:
Argus is seeking an experienced reporter to provide west coast
environmental markets and policy coverage for the company's market
intelligence reports and its online news service.The ideal
candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly
become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within a
designated product portfolio.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
Writing about carbon and environmental policies and regulations
on the US west coast and particularly California.
Developing and maintaining rapport with key contacts and
liaising regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers,
traders, brokers) to gain environmental market intelligence.
Working with and interviewing subject matter experts, research
industry trends and assessing the worthiness of potential
topics.
Assessing environmental market prices (mainly California Carbon
Allowance, California Carbon Offsets and California renewables)
based on collected data, adhering to rigorous compliance
standards.
Synthesizing complex information quickly.
Writing market commentary, analysis pieces and news stories
adhering to strict deadlines.
Maintaining existing databases and building new databases for
designated product.
Developing new contacts and relationships within
marketplace.
Required
Qualifications:
The legal authorization to work in the US for any US
employer.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications,
economics, business, agriculture, geography or relevant field.
Demonstrated goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong
diplomatic and problem solving ability.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional reporting
or publishing capacity or in an analyst role.
A basic understanding of economics.
A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing
all writing within established deadlines.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with particular
experience in Excel.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time to
fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience covering physical energy markets.
Knowledge of energy and environmental issues
A Master's degree in related field.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
