Interviewing and data collection for mental health and related research projects. Includes recruiting participants to mental health related studies.
Essential Functions:
Following stringent guidelines regarding confidentiality and protection of human subjects conduct and document standardized diagnostic psychiatric screenings and follow up assessments according to research protocols in a variety of settings to include the research clinic, mental health clinics, community setting, and participant homes. Conduct semistructured interviews with research participants. Score and write-up results of assessments and interviews. Perform case management activities to maintain and enhance study participant retention and adherence. Use appropriate computer programs to assist in participant identification; data collection; tracking; ordering referrals, laboratory tests or procedures; or communication, such as RRS, Health Connect, study specific programs, CAS, and other computer software as needed.
Recruit research participants to mental health-related studies, including reviewing eligibility criteria, contacting health providers and prospective participants, screening for eligibility, scheduling appointments, and providing informed consent.
Participate in quality control of the assessment, interview and data collection process.
Provide screening for non-diagnostic studies following specific study protocols to determine eligibility for research projects. Collect screening and follow-up information on questionnaires, answer study related questions and schedule appointments for study visits. Performs other duties as requested.

Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field.
License, Certification, Registration
Licenses are necessary only for those whose field and work assignments require it.
Additional Requirements:
Experience working with participants with mental illness.
Experience interviewing participants for data collection.
Familiarity with psychometric testing.
Familiarity with symptomatology and diagnoses of mental illnesses.
Comfortable working with participants with severe mental illness.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Working in a research setting following standardized protocols to collect data.
Conducting structured psychiatric diagnostic interviews with a variety of age groups and types of illness.
Working as part of a team.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking may be required for certain mental health interviewer positions.
Working knowledge of diagnostic structured interviews such as SADS, SCID, and K-SADS.
Working knowledge of the etiology of mental illness, addictions and DSM-4.
Working knowledge of research methodology.
