This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $17.25 - $23.11/hour; Location: Marquam Hill
Functions/Duties of Position
This position is an integral part of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. This position directly supports the Department objectives of Clinical Care, Quality Assurance, Education and Research. This position is responsible for access management of new and returning patients; perform all managed care duties to ensure successful reimbursement for services; schedule patients for clinical and surgical appointments; provide front desk services in the clinical setting; provide PAS expertise and training to subordinates and co-workers; provide all of the above to the highest level of customer service excellence standards.
Job Requirements
Required:
One year of experience in a medical office setting, including high-volume direct patient contact, scheduling of appointments and obtaining managed care authorizations.
Thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures.
Demonstrated advanced PAS user skills as well as extensive knowledge of integrated care at OHSU.
Proficient with managed care functions including eligibility issues, authorizations, referrals and TOS payments/collections.
Proficiency with EPIC, Cadence and EARL
Minimum of 6 months experience with high volume, multi -line phone system.
Proficient with MS Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Working knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
Thorough knowledge of electronic patient scheduling programs.
Experience with database entry.
Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers.
Demonstrated exemplary written and verbal customer service skills and communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Demonstrated effectiveness in customer confrontational interactions.
Must be detail oriented, highly accurate and able to multi-task in high volume situations
Detail oriented; able to work independently or part of a team.
Preferred:
Some college courses
Experience in a cardiothoracic service
