This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
This is a part-time (0.5) FTE position. Schedule will be Monday through Friday, variable shifts between 7:30 AM and 8:30 PM and fair share Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Salary will be $15.78 to $21.15/hour. This position is located in SE Portland.
Functions/Duties of Position
The PAS Specialist gathers and records information about patients; provides specific customer services which include screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and individual's obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling physician office and ancillary appointments, and assisting patients in an office or practice setting.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR
One year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position OR
Basic computer keyboarding skills.
Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to meet deadlines and urgent patient and system needs.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Willingness to serve as a positive and professional role model.
Proficient in university network computer applications using Windows, MSWord, OHSU EPIC, OCHIN EPIC. (Cadence, Prelude and Resolute).
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Accuracy in data entry.
Strong relationship building skills with patients, health plans, providers, staff, management.
Exceptional customer service skills - both in person and on the phone.
Exceptional interpersonal skills - able to resolve conflicts and to problem-solve between parties.
Patient advocacy skills -evaluate patient concerns for timely resolution.
Sensitive to patient needs.
PREFERRED:
AA or BA or BS in business or other health care related field.
Additional Details
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer.
Able to handle a fast paced work environment with multiple time sensitive completing demands.
