Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; 1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $15.78 - $21.15/hour; Location: Marquam Hill.
Functions/Duties of Position
The Patient Access Service Specialist gathers and records required information about patients in the Rheumatology Practice, provides excellent customer service which includes but is not limited to, confirming health insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling physician office and ancillary appointments, and assisting patients in an office or practice setting. This role supports the Practice and its faculty by providing excellent customer service, demonstrating professional communication on the phone and in face-to-face customer contact, problem solving, and functioning as a team member to other staff.
Job Requirements
Required:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position OR successful completion of the PAS Trainee position.
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
Scheduling experience.
Proficient with managed care functions including eligibility issues, authorizations, referrals and TOS payments/collections.
Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers.
Must have experience with high volume, multi -line phone system.
Knowledge of on-line scheduling.
Excellent customer service skills, both over the telephone and face-to-face.
Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills in resolving patient concerns, scheduling challenges and managed care related problems.
Must be detail oriented, highly accurate and able to multi-task in high volume situations.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred:
Experience with EPIC Cadence Basic and Advanced Scheduling, Prelude, EpicCare.
At least 6 months previous work experience utilizing multi-line phone systems.
Working knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding.
Advanced computer skills.
Two years of work experience in a heavy medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact.
