Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; 1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $15.78-21.15/hour; Location: Marquam Hill.
Functions/Duties of Position
The Patient Access Service Specialist gathers and records required information about patients; provides specific customer services which include screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and individual's obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling appointments, and assisting patients in an office or clinic setting.
Job Requirements
Required:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one year of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position OR successful completion of the PAS Trainee position.
Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 30 - 45 wpm.
Proficient with managed care functions including eligibility issues, authorizations, referrals and TOS payments/collections.
Proficiency with EPIC module Cadence and EARL.
Experience with high volume, multi -line phone system.
Knowledge of on-line scheduling.
Cash handling experience.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers.
Excellent customer service skills, both over the telephone and face-to-face.
Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills in resolving patient concerns, scheduling challenges and managed care related problems.
Must be detail oriented, highly accurate and able to multi-task in high volume situations.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a fast paced high volume medical office.
Experience with medical office procedures as well as computer word processing.
