Department Overview
The main research interest of Dr. Guizzetti's laboratory is the identification of novel mechanisms of astrocyte-neuron interactions involved in neuronal development and in adult brain function altered by ethanol as in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and in Alcohol Use Disorder. We use pharmacological, biochemical, genetic, and histochemical/in situ hybridization techniques as well as both rodent in vivo and in vitro models to address these questions.
Function/Duties of Position
Strong background in biology is required. Understanding of molecular neuroscience and statistics and rodent handling experience are preferred. Attentiveness to detail in performing experiments is a must. The Research Associate will perform experiments individually and as a member of a research team. Occasionally the work will occur on weekends. Good communication and support of other members of the lab will be necessary. The Guizzetti lab provides a supportive environment for future growth of the applicant. Participation in scientific presentations and publications is encouraged.
GENERAL FOCUS OF THIS POSITION:
Work directly under a Principal Investigator. Tasks to be performed as part of this position: sample processing, assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, library research, data collection, data analysis, developing new methods, and troubleshooting existing methods.
GENERAL SCOPE OF THIS POSITION:
Oversees the design of research studies, procedures, and day to day operations in support of research goals and grant commitments. Monitors the results, responds to unusual outcomes, develops and implements modifications to address any technical or design issues.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in Western blot analysis and/or ELISA.
Experience in immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization.
Lab management experience.
Strong scientific and technical background in molecular and cellular biology.
Strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
Primary brain cell culture.
Data analysis/R coding.
Handling/treating mice.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
An interactive personality.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
