Manager, Government Relations at KinderCare in Portland, OR

The position requires a detail oriented professional with a strong policy and advocacy background, excellent research capabilities with demonstrated written and oral communication skills. This position provides the opportunity to join a highly proactive, collaborative, and strategic government relations team working to promote high-quality early childhood education in a dynamic policy and advocacy landscape at the federal, state, and local levels. Experience and Knowledge:
o Minimum of 5
years of experience in advocacy related to federal, state, and local government policy o Knowledge of early childhood education, childcare, and state/local pre-kindergarten initiatives and funding streams o Experience developing and executing advocacy strategies o Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and objectives simultaneously o Experience with childcare center operations a plus Responsibilities and Duties:
o Work in coordination with team members, lobbyists, trade associations, and on-the-ground NGO advocacy specialists to move the state policy agenda forward in a portfolio of 20
states o Develop and execute policy and advocacy strategy to promote KCE priorities within and across designated states o Develop relationships with policymakers and advocates, as well as foster collaborative working relationships with internal and external business partners o Research and analyze state legislation and identify strategies to influence policymakers - including coordination with KCE field partners and partner organizations in the advancement of advocacy strategy o Maintain a regular exchange of information via phone calls, email, electronic and/or in-person meetings to ensure timely, accurate and effective legislative priority actions o Write memoranda, talking points, advocacy letters, testimony, bill summaries, draft legislative and regulatory language, and reports for a wide variety of audiences o Regularly update and advise KCE leadership about relevant policy activities and political developments o Provide additional support and expertise to the company and field employees, as needed o Other related duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications and Skills:
o Bachelor's Degree required o Excellent written and verbal communication skills o Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills o Ability to think critically and act strategically o Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as with a team o Proven ability to collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders o Personal integrity, professionalism, initiative, and good judgement o Negotiation and facilitation skills o Strong PC skills covering general office software, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email required o Ability to manage multiple projects required o Remote teamwork experience a plus
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
HR Management, HR Generalists & Business PartnersEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
