Energy Efficiency Program Engineer (REMOTE - WEST COAST))

A national energy and environmental services organization, TRC provides its services to America's major industries, utilities, banks, insurance companies and federal, state and local government agencies. TRC is seeking a qualified individual to support commercial energy efficiency and green building programs in Oregon. Projects and responsibilities may include peer review of energy efficiency calculations and building energy simulation models, technical and financial analysis for new and existing energy efficiency measures, support for Strategic Energy Management (SEM) projects, analysis for renewable energy systems and developing energy efficiency measure calculations. Candidates must possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, knowledge of energy-related codes and standards. The desired candidate will work collaboratively with program staff and clients to promote energy efficiency and green building projects. The candidate will be presented with a diverse range of projects found in commercial energy systems. This position requires flexibility; diversity of technical expertise; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent customer care skills.The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Review calculations and assumptions developed by third party technical contractors to estimate savings for energy efficiency and green building projects Review eQuest building models developed by third party technical contractors for reasonableness and accuracy, and provide comments and recommendations for improvement (if needed) Support engineering efforts for commercial SEM program Keep managers aware of project schedules and progress and provide regular time charging/budget updates as requested Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and quality control of calculations Assist in the development of technical standards, protocols and requirements for innovative energy efficiency and green building programs Conduct technical and financial analysis on deemed savings for prescriptive energy efficiency measures to update existing measures and develop new measures Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures for energy and green building programs Communicate with contractors and program administrators regarding program requirements Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations Candidate may conduct a limited amount of site visits to verify installation and operation of baseline and replacement energy-using equipment Requirements:
Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering 5
years of experience within the energy efficiency, green building, building science, or related fields Experience with analytical requirements for commercial HVAC, central heating, and cooling plants Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment Preferred
Experience:
Commercial SEM Energy efficiency program market in the Pacific Northwest Additional energy modeling software packages (EnergyPlus, Trane TRACE, IES VE) Energy auditing and retrocommissioning Extensive experience in other aspects of the energy industry, such as distributed energy generation, demand response, project economics/rate analysis, project design, renewable energy, and/or energy storage applications Well-developed presentation/public speaking skills Use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technologies PE, CEM or LEED AP accreditation Salary and Benefits The position is a full time, permanent position. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
