THIS ROLE IS LOCATED ALONG THE OREGON COAST We are hiring IMMEDIATELY for a Insurance Billing Coordinator to join one of our community mental health providers!
Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure healthcare providers are paid for services rendered while maintaining compliance with contracts, payment structures, legislation and rules that impact billing and collection.
This position will follow-up on any outstanding Accounts Receivable for all payers, including self-pay, and will work to resolve claim denials and secure payment.
This position bills a variety of payers for services rendered to clients including Medicaid, Managed Care Plans, contracts, private and commercial insurers, and guarantors.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Ensuring all claims are processed in a timely manner.
Submitting electronic claims and manual invoices/claims to contracted payers.
Verifying insurance eligibility benefits and authorizations are in place.
Preparing and sending billing statements to clients.
Utilizing and interpreting explanation of benefits responses to process insurance claims.
Approving and posting payments.
Adding and maintaining grant payments and apply payments to client claims.
Notifying staff if they need to complete missing or have incomplete documentation.
Programing modules when necessary i.
e.
fee matrix, activities modules, procedure module, roll up rules, and payer module, etc.
Providing customer service by responding to inquiries from payers, clients and co-workers regarding claims, financial information set up, billing and payments.
Investigating and resolving outstanding balances with payers.
Correcting and reprocessing accounts as needed.
Reviewing, processing, and resolving any failed or scrubbed activities and failed claims.
Following up with insurance companies/providers if more authorizations are needed.
Running necessary reports to process claims for instance, authorizations, aging, tracking unpaid claims.
All Staff are Mandatory Abuse Reporters per the State of Oregon, as such all staff must be aware of and follow Mandatory Abuse Reporting Policies.
Other duties as assigned Requirements:
2-4 years' prior experience as a billing specialist with strong understanding of medical coding.
Knowledge of medical codes, billing procedures, legal billing guidelines, posting procedures.
Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA and importance of maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to understand and appropriately apply contractual language in various situations.
Experienced at observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
Experience with compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
Perform administrative activities such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
Required to have and maintain an Oregon or Washington Driver's license and meet the agency's insurance carrier's insurance standards at the time of hire.
Preferred:
Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience.
Experience working with confidential information.
