As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted.
Based in Groton, CT, you'll have the opportunity Operates complex heavy equipment such as:
18-wheel tractor trailer rigs, loaders, graders, D16 or heavier bulldozers on an assigned shift.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Controls runoff and drift and complies with all permit requirements Implements appropriate equipment and facilities maintenance programs to include maintenance of equipment warranties Loads, unloads, hauls, and applies biosolids or product waste and, if applicable, scum, grit, and screenings according to approved procedures including application to agricultural land and landfills Maintains records and log of work activities Prepares required reports and maintains complete recordkeeping procedures Maintains DOT logs and manifest Uses materials, supplies, and hand or power tools Performs other duties as required High school diploma or GED Possess appropriate wastewater certification if required by state Three years experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles Possess valid driver's license Possess state required equipment operator license Ideally, you'll also have:
Three years experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment, farm machinery, pumps, and sewer line maintenance equipment Knowledge of the principles employed in the general operation and maintenance of vehicles, engines, pumps, valves, motors, farm machinery, and related equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems, safe work practices.
Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance and servicing of vehicles, equipment, and sewers.
Working Conditions & Physical RequirementsThe work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required.
Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals.
The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.
In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb and work off of a ladder or scaffold and climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts; carry a 50 pound tool box up a flight of stairs; work in confined spaces and wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
