VP, Operations, Anesthesia

POSITION SUMMARYThe Vice President of Operations, Anesthesia (VPA) partners with the Sound Anesthesia management team to provide leadership to Sound's Anesthesia Service Line with a focus on engagement, growth, operational and financial success.
This role is responsible for progressing the service line infrastructure, value proposition, and integration with Sound's central practice management support and regional operational teams supporting other services including hospital medicine, transitional care, critical care, emergency medicine and physician advisory services.
This person is responsible for defining and executing strategy and creating clarity through the Sound Way of Managing (SWOM) to drive performance and accountability across the service line, in collaboration with regional leaders.
The VPA will think strategically about integrating all enterprise services to add value for clients while supporting the growth of the region and company.
This role is expected to model impeccable client service and build successful trust-based relationships with system leaders and C-Suite level hospital executives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The VPA owns the financial and operational performance of the Anesthesia Service Line and collaborates across each region's portfolio of programs.
Key Accountabilities:
Profit and Loss responsibility for the Service Line.
Business development, program implementation and continuous improvement thereof.
The performance of Sound Anesthesia leadership and their staff.
Development of the brand for Sound Anesthesia.
Capacity Creation Build and develop a high-performance team of regional operating executives.
Ensure appropriate training, role clarity, succession planning, and leadership development.
Secure appropriate infrastructure and resources to empower team and effectively operate by leveraging regional leaders according to SWOM.
Contributes in a meaningful way to national and organizational level initiatives.
Culture Promotes a relentless pursuit of operational excellence through clarity, planning, execution and accountability aligned with the SWOM.
Leads team to continuously improve the financial and operational performance of healthcare delivery for our partners while improving the quality of patient care.
Sound Way of Managing Facilitate cross pollination of ideas, process and strategies with other regional leadership within Sound and the Enterprise services.
Partners with Anesthesia clinical leadership to support clinical performance management objectives.
Effectively manages relationships/processes with central services departments to maximize stakeholder, client, and colleague value.
Client Retention Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of favorable contracts for Sound Physicians utilizing optimal pricing models and operating strategy.
Thinks in systems and works collaboratively with Anesthesia clinical partners on client reporting focused on transparency and acknowledged value and in developing strategic operational and clinical initiatives.
Owns key c-suite system and hospital relationships and manages clients through impeccable service.
Understands and persuades the client of the value that their Anesthesia program is delivering and creates excitement and passion for those results.
Hit Plan Accountable for delivering budgeted financial results and leading the regional teams to develop accurate projections and forecasts.
Facilitates forward thinking focus and action planning around key contribution margin drivers.
In conjunction with Regional Director of Finance and Operational Team, review site financial statements for accuracy and trends to explain financial performance.
Prepares monthly and quarterly executive reporting outlining performance and initiatives of Anesthesia service line Expansion and Growth Drive the growth, integration and development of Sound's current and future Anesthesia services in collaboration with regional and service line leaders including but not limited to Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine and Physician Advisory services.
Owns service line growth.
Works with Anesthesia team & Business Development team in pursuit of new business.
Completes due diligence and site design for new hospital sites.
Create or review proposals for new business and expansion of current business, including financial plans.
Understand the financial and operational impacts of program changes as well as pricing.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLSEducationPreferred:
Advanced degree in business administration or healthcare administration.
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
Experience12 or more years working in healthcare operational management, with experience managing multi-site operations and physician practices.
5 or more years operational leadership experience in anesthesia.
Experience building and managing a team of regional operating executives will be important.
Working knowledge of hospital operations required.
Strong business and market development capabilities will also be critical.
Familiarity with healthcare informatics, including quality measures, will also be considered important.
