Biology Research Associate

Portland, OR Portland, OR Full-time Full-time $45,000 a year $45,000 a year Biology Research Associate Biology We invite applications for a research associate position in the Mellies Lab in the Reed Biology Department to study bacterial biodegradation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the material used to make plastic water bottles and other single-use containers.
This research offers an exciting opportunity to study the genetic pathwas and temporal control of a group of bacteria that degrade PET, and to work toward creating more envioronmentally friendly technologies to recycle.
As a research associate, you will also mentor undergraduates from a wide range of backgrounds.
Funding for this work is from a three-year, collaborative NSF RUI grant.
This is a full-time, position, with starting salary of $45,000 per year.

A.
in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with a graduate degree and/or experience in chemical analysis techniques being a plus.
Strong organizational and writing skills, as well as ability to work independently are preferred.
