Preschool Teacher - Early Childhood Education

ChildRoots is a small family of locally- and woman-owned childcare centers in Portland, Oregon.
We see children as authentic, powerful individuals, and our mission is to guide their social and emotional development and to foster a sense of wonder about the world around them.
Our awe-inspiring classrooms are child-focused and designed to provoke curiosity and encourage inquiry, but it's our Teachers and support staff who make ChildRoots truly outstanding.
We're currently recruiting Teachers.
These roles require applicants to be enrolled in the Central Background Registry and teacher-qualified, which means you've worked in a structured child care environment long enough and/or taken enough college-level courses in early childhood education-related subjects to meet the Office of Child Care requirements.
A ChildRoots Teacher works 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, offering primary care for 4 -10 children.
A cornerstone of our educational philosophy is a strong, consistent bond between child and caregiver, so we encourage Teachers to commit to their cohort of children for a year or more.
Apart from the joy and emotional satisfaction of committing to a classroom, we incentivize long-term commitments with annual bonuses.
Since we opened our first school in 2007, we've continually adapted our compensation strategy and learned that prospective and current employees alike value fair, predictable compensation.
So, all ChildRoots Teachers start at $19.
50/hour and are eligible for standardized annual raises and long-term commitment bonuses.
Some Portland-area centers offer higher starting wages for Lead Teachers but lower starting wages for Assistant Teachers, whereas we're committed to a co-teaching model in which all Teachers start at the same rate and share teaching responsibilities.
When you receive a ChildRoots job offer, you won't have to negotiate your wage or wonder how your offer compares to others'.
