SCOPE OF The Facilities Specialist will be responsible for assisting in managing operations of Urban League offices, Housing Developments, and shelters, and ensuring the smooth operation of the League's 24/7 facilities.
The Facilities Specialist will perform semi-skilled maintenance and security for Urban League locations.
The ideal candidate for this role excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing maintenance and security responsibilities in a flexible and responsive position that promotes continuous improvement across the agencys sites.
This is an entry level graveyard position.
DUTIES AND Inspecting buildings and facilities for needed maintenance and repairs.
Responds to minor maintenance service calls.
Performs preventative maintenance on facilities systems.
Installs or repairs various facilities infrastructure components.
Performs fire & life safety systems check.
Restocks consumable supplies at the various facility locations.
Assists with moving and shipping of office furniture.
Assists with remodels of office and/or interior spaces.
Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Operates the facilities vehicle.
On-call for urgent matters.
Ensure integration of maintenance, process controls and operations Work with a waste reduction mindset and drive continuous improvement in maintenance and production operations.
Contribute to the overall agency efforts by completing other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials involved in maintenance and repair, electrical, plumbing/boilers, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), concrete, carpentry/framing.
Knowledge of the rules of safe operation of equipment and the precautions to be taken to avoid accidents.
Ability to read instructions and blueprints.
Must be able to work flexible hours.
May have to respond to after-hours emergency calls.
Ability to communicate well and interact respectfully with other employees and customers.
Ability to work closely with others across departments, but also work alone at a worksite, under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with department policy.
