AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32) with Security Clearance

Duties As an AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-6652-8/10, this position is located in the Egress Shop of the Aerospace Systems Section, Field Maintenance Branch, Maintenance DivisionThe primary purpose of this position is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft egress systems, such as aircraft ejection seats, extraction and escape systems, egress components of jettison canopies, explosive components of escape hatches and doors, and egress trainers1Troubleshoots, installs, removes, repairs, modifies, adjusts, inspects, and tests such components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket packs, and canopies, etcInspects for safety, serviceability and maintainability of systems prior to installation, removal, repair, or adjustments of components and insures proper installation and positioning of safety pins, initiators, simulators, and de-arming mechanismsVisually inspects ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkage for damage, deterioration, restrictions, and security of connections and mounting, and performs corrective maintenance as requiredStores egress explosives IAW AFOSH standards2Inspects pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceabilityChecks canopy and capsule structure and associated seals, latches, and locks for damage and securityInstalls and maintains Jet Assistance Take Off (JATO) systems when applicableIsolates the malfunction and takes necessary corrective actionPositions, repairs, and adjusts required aerospace ground equipment, such as rail extensions, hoists, sling, dollies, and trailers used in performing maintenance tasks3Performs installation, modification, and repair of aircraft egress systemsSolves unusual installation and maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of egress systemsSelects proper maintenance and repair procedures and corrects the malfunction and/or defective equipmentDiagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate actionPerforms Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO'S) related to egress systems4Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercisesMay be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies5Performs other duties as assignedRequirements Conditions of Employmento National Guard Membership is required.o Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.o Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.o U.Scitizenship is required.o This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.o The duties of this job may significantly impact the environmentYou are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission.o Must be able to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.o May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; shift work and/or overtime may be required.o Federal employment suitability required and determined by a background investigation before appointment to position.o May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.o Must have a valid driver's license.o Must be able to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance for the position.o Compatible Military AFSC Assignments:

Work involves troubleshooting, installing, modifying, repairing, and adjusting a variety of aircraft ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching equipmentThe work requires a knowledge of aircraft ordnance systems, the ability to recognize and determine the best method to correct malfunctions, and the ability to use test equipment and measuring devices common to the occupationExperience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and componentsAbility to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering drawingsExperience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checksTo qualify for WG-08:
Must have at least 12 months of experience in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systemsExperience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships existExperience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipmentExperience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specificationsTo qualify for WG-10:
Must have at least 18 months of experience in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systemsExperience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships existExperience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipmentExperience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specificationsAdditional information Alternate Application Method for current AGR members (Oregon ANG only) intending to remain AGR must submit the following:
