General Description of Work
The Growth Support Staff position holds a high level of immediate responsibility for the safety of residents of Shepherd's Door during evenings, nights, and weekend shifts. The person in this role will work in collaboration with the Recovery Staff to ensure that residents experience consistency of program, grace in crisis and support as needed.
It is critical that the person hired for this role is confident in setting appropriate boundaries with residents, while extending grace and thoughtful hospitality. Understanding and/or experience of addictions recovery is a strong plus.
The Growth Support Staff provides a strong ministerial presence largely through prayer and specific guidance/accountability for individual resident needs.
Essential Functions
Develop ministerial relationships with Shepherd's Door residents which provide support and encouragement in their ongoing growth, as well as trouble-shooting issues as they arise.
Responsible for overseeing activities of residents that takes place during this shift (i.e. Signing In and Out, conducting UA's as necessary, upholding nightly curfews, medication accountability and access, assisting with vocational assignment completion, etc.)
Facilitate a weekend and/or nightly environment that promotes peaceful and restorative rest.
Compassionately, calmly, and decisively handle any issues that may arise throughout the shift.
Proactively maintain a high level of safety and security by proficiently handling security systems, phone calls, entry doors, and resident safety crisis as they may arise.
Maintain documentation of overnight activities, observations and ongoing ministry feedback.
General Functions
Model and facilitate accountability, Christ-likeness, self-discovery, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
Actively engage in ongoing prayer and intercession throughout the night for individual residents, Shepherd's Door needs/concerns, and other areas as led.
Maintain relationships with the Recovery Team at large to ensure the creation and maintenance of unified New Life Recovery principles and practices.
Other Duties as Assigned
In this and any position with Portland Rescue Mission, it is impossible to predict the many requests and assignments that can and will be made on an employee. Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the person who holds this important position and for the successful operation of Portland Rescue Mission services.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
