Director, Experience Design Reports to VP of Experience Design


ISITE Design's Experience Design practice integrates and aligns User Experience, Content Strategy and Interface Design & Development to help our clients deliver a more unique, useful and valuable digital experience to their customers.

Based in our Portland office, the Director of Experience Design will play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the department by leading the strategy, conception and design of transformational digital projects through a consultative relationship with our clients. The role blends hands-on work identifying and defining the overlap between what matters to the customer and what matters to the business and mentorship and guidance of blended content, design and technology teams toward great outcomes for our clients and their customers.

Responsibilities:
Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the creation of useful, delightful user experiences
Help define business opportunities and translate insights into consumer-facing experiences
Enable the creation of concept models, user interface sketches, and schematics.
Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to Experience Designers
Provide creative leadership and coaching to team members in an iterative design process
Build and guide the team in producing creative and impactful solutions through ideation, leadership and regular feedback and critique.
Strategic thinking for a project and ensuring a shared vision across the team to ensure business results and a cohesive, inspiring user experience
Activate brand messages to deliver utility, relevance and engagement in the digital space
Participate in agency thought leadership and community efforts including our Delight Experience Design conference.
The Director of Experience Design defines strategy and principles that help align and inform the development of systems and stories across touch points, use cases.

Qualifications:
Examples of successful experience-oriented projects which demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking
At least 3 years of experience in a senior Experience Design role leading projects and mentoring teams
A solid understanding and demonstration of user centered design principles
Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead the design of complex systems
A good understanding of digital technologies (including CMS and Marketing Automation platforms) and the types of experiences they make possible
Ability to lead and actively contribute to a multi-disciplinary team
Experience leading workshops with clients and end-users to align around a vision and imagine new solutions
Must be organized, able to act independently, and able to inspire clients and team members in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated thought leadership in the Experience Design, User Experience or Customer Experience space
A drive to use customer insight and design thinking to help transform our client's business
Proven experience building and sustaining high-performing design teams
Ability to successfully participate in business development by articulating a user-centered design approach, and presenting project work to clients

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
