Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; 1.0 FTE; Salary: $42,000
DOE; Location: Marquam Hill.
Additional safety training may be required to work with cell lines/ infectious bacteria or viruses/ working with in a BSL-2 environment/working with research animals
Functions/Duties of Position
A positon is open for a trained research pathologist to study the causes and progression of breast cancer using human and rodent breast tissues. This position will report to a Principal Investigator, and work with a team of dedicated researchers in the area of breast cancer progression and metastasis.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of working up and troubleshooting biomarkers using immunohistochemical and special stains on human and rodent tissue. The candidate should be well versed with pathology of human breast tissue in assessment of hyperplasia, in-situ lesions and invasive cancers, including pathological grading and recognizing lymphovascular invasion. Experience with grossing breast specimens is desirable. The position entails collecting, analyzing, and quantifying biologic marker data using different statistical software programs with correlates to clinical data in breast cancer patients and rodent models. Prior knowledge of semi quantitative image analysis software including Aperio, Image J, or evidence of ability to learn new computer programs, is important. If prior training in rodent mammary histology/pathology is lacking, the ability to learn the rodent models is a necessity. Lastly, the candidate should be able to work well in teams and participate in the preparation of reports and manuscripts. Job Requirements
Required:
Doctoral degree in relevant field, MD/PhD, MD, PhD
Experience/training as a research pathologist
Demonstrated knowledge of immunohistochemical and special stains on human and rodent tissue; Prior knowledge of semi quantitative image analysis software including Aperio, Image J, or evidence of ability to learn new computer programs
Preferred:
