Summary:


Con-way Freight BI Data Warehouse team looking for a talented and highly motivated Data Engineer that can build lead and support the business by delivering high quality solutions for the Enterprise Data Warehouse. As the Data Engineer, you would be responsible for the building the full development lifecycle of the solution. You must have the ability to roll up your sleeves to design as well as build quality solutions.
In terms of relevant skill having a strong foundation in the programming language and database core fundamental will be directly useful. However, the main focus is on following top qualities

Essential Functions:
Design and develop logical data models and physical data models.
Develop a full understanding of the data warehouse design model, including 3NF design methods.
Design, develop, test and deploy Informatica ETL processes in Netezza platforms
Develop Informatica ETL mapping design, data flow diagrams and operational support documents
Participate in the lean continuous improvement environment to improve Con-way's processes by identifying and leading efforts to reduce cycle times, value preposition and reduce costs.
Define, manage and support daily execution of data loading jobs
Quickly analyze complex data patterns in order to establish technical solutions to resolve data issues.
Contribute to the development of work estimates for projects.
Assist in the identification and implementation of appropriate testing strategy.
Contribute in all steps required for deployment/implementation of the application solution.
Participate in a self directed team environment. Collaborate with project team members and QA on development, customer issues, and security requirements.
Provide technical and design knowledge to the project team regarding applications solutions and problem resolution.
Participate in code and design reviews.
Provide 24/7 on-call rotational support of applications support to users including issue resolution. Accurately repair and document changes to applications as assigned.
Basic monitoring of system and application performance and troubleshoot or escalate issues as needed.

Scope and Accountability:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in CS, MIS, Electronics or technical area is generally preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, or training.
0-3 years experience in IT systems design and development preferably in medium to large corporate environments including experience with an Enterprise adopted development tool. Experience in logistics and/or transportation management and business analysis is desired.
Basic system knowledge and skills in the Enterprise adopted toolsets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in customer settings and with internal management.
Knowledge of basic business principles and transportation management.
Working knowledge of IT software development life cycle methodologies and processes.
Well developed time management and prioritization skills.
Demonstrated basic analytical capabilities. Ability to manage customer expectations.
Ability to apply basic understanding of functionality of multiple transportation related systems.
On rare occasions may be requested to travel.
