LEAD MEDICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT

The Lead MSA is responsible for the coordination of Advanced MSA assignments and workflow found in an interdisciplinary unit. The Lead MSA is responsible for daily workload assessments, assigning work, and assuring proper staffing coverage; evaluating training records; and determining training needs of MSAs to provide support across interdisciplinary settings. Works as a liaison between management and AMSAs to ensure efficient and accurate scheduling of consults, outpatient visits and associated tests for patients. Monitors scheduled leave calendar and provides coverage for staff who are absent. Provides on-the-job training for new and current MSAs to promote consistency, excellence, and adherence to standards., policies, and procedures. Conducts regular, informal reviews of area documentation and techniques to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Provides coverage for critical areas during staff leave times. Monitors the workload and alerts for all team members to ensure that backlogs are being addressed. Offers assistance in busy areas to ensure timely completion of orders and scheduling per consults. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of procedures, medical terminology, and unique requirements of each of the specialties supported by DHSM. Reviews and monitors reports such as consult status, encounters, providers' orders, and takes steps to ensure that work is completed and accurate. Assists with educating providers in use of, CPRS, VistA and other electronic systems. Work Schedule:

Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service , or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; OR (2) Education. One year above high school; OR (3) Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Grade Determination for GS-7 (Lead MSA):
Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Candidates must demonstrate all of the KSAs below:
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. Ability to provide staff development and training. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of incomplete work across multiple clinics. References:

The work is mainly sedentary; but there will be walking to various inpatient units within the Boise Health System and the Endoscopy Unit, solving problems, and relaying pertinent information to staff. There is also minimal lifting/bending involved when handling supplies. The work may result in mental stress to the employee due to resolving complaints and the nature of the work involving families and patients with life threatening issues which sometimes results in death.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
