Re-Joined the company to bring back the lost rental business since I left in 2012.  In one years time was able to bring rental revenue stream above levels of the past two years.  Re-established contact with national clients to bring their business back to Event Communications after a two year absence.  Responsible for signing contracts with the Bi-Mart Country Music Festivals for all three of their events in Oregon and Idaho.  Services provided are portable Internet and Wi-Fi distribution to vendors, artists, backstage and operations.  Also designed and implemented two-way radio communications services for security and operations.

Project Manager/Events (contract)

Managed projects and new product introductions for national and international clients as a contract employee. Last project was an international product role out for Janome, the second largest sewing machine company in the world.  Picked the site for the event (Las Vegas) developed the theme, produced POS materials that tied into the theme.  Produced and executed a different approach to the typical “sales meeting” allowing dealers from around the world to purchase product in a “country specific” area as they came into the trade show venue.  This produced an increase of more than $13 million over the previous years meeting.  After meeting reviews were rated as excellent by over 90% of the dealers and staff.

Rebranded the company in the first six months to increase visibility in the market place. Developed internal systems to acquire more business without disturbing current base of clients. Produced, timed and managed over 60 running events and triathlons in Oregon, Washington and California.



EVENT RENTAL COMMUNICATIONS, INC.                                                                     1999 - 2012 

Director of Operations and New Business Development 

Designed and implemented sophisticated two-way radio communication services and developed portable internet and VOIP telephone and data distribution systems for major clients and their events throughout the United States and became the largest dealer for Motorola, Vertex and ICOM in the West. Events included the New York Marathon, LA Marathon, Ironman Triathlon Championships, Balance Bar 24 Hour Endurance Races, Hood-to-Coast Relay, NBA All Star Games, PGA, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with 200,000+ people on site. Provided complete on-site operational management for national television and broadcast services as it related to RF communication. Streamlined employee input for new high potential business opportunities and developed creative business models that combined rental business with equipment sales which resulted in increased overall market share. 



WESTERN INTERNATIONAL FIREWORKS                                                                          1991-1999 

Director of Sales & Marketing/Technical Director of Productions 

Increased aerial productions by 40% and distributed events throughout the year rather than only during the traditional July 4th holiday. Produced and logistically staged 300+ aerial shows throughout the Unites States each year. Developed the first all-digital firing system and

synchronized it with digital input music. Established relationships with fireworks factories in Japan, China, and Korea to ensure the highest quality of imported products.  Gained exclusivity on certain fireworks products.  Produced and directed multiple barge shows throughout the United States.

Founded the company with a colleague and grew the staff to 30+ employees.  Produced national and international sales and marketing events, new product introductions and launches. Sample clients were INTEL, Apple, NIKE, Microsoft, Mercedes Benz, and Freightliner.  Freightliner dealers purchased over $46 million in new trucks after seeing our video and stage production and set a standard for sales-based meetings worldwide.  Produced and directed over 30 major shows and events annually throughout the United States.

Western Regional Sales Manager (1974-1976) 

Managed sales in the 15 Western States including four rep organizations. Formed strategic alliances with major retailers, specifically, Nordstrom, Mervyns, JC Penny and large sporting goods retailers such as Big Five. Re-engineered sales organization in anticipation of changing customer base and retail channels. Negotiated long term contracts with retailers to ensure delivery and secure price points.  Successfully developed solid contracts with athletes.  Founded NIKE’s NBA Club to design new products and custom fit players with shoes that prolonged their careers and minimized injuries. Created new concept advertising directed at individuals who wanted to experience the “athletic world” even though they never had competed professionally. Developed, managed and produced all sales, marketing and trade show productions throughout the United States and Canada. 





Produced and managed the Forest Grove Concours de Elegance. This 25 year anniversary production was the highest rated event in the history of the Concours. With our theme, “Streamliners Early Aerodynamic Cars that Changed Automotive History,” we worked with such collections as the Blackhawk Museum, Petersons Auto Museum and others to bring streamlined cars to the public.


Developed a “white paper” laying the ground work for bringing the International race series MOTO GP back to the United States after a 10 year hiatus. Ensured that the financial arrangements were in place so the national dealers moved forward quickly. Worked closely with Laguna Seca management to develop a long term strategy to assure the race series would be permanent on their schedule. MOTO GP was an instant success as the only sell out in all of their 5 major events each year. Similar results continued through 2010 and allowed MOTO GP to expand rapidly. Indianapolis Motor Speedway was added in 2009; in 2013, Austin Texas was added to host Circuit of the Americas MOTO GP.  


As Chairman of the Marketing Committee for Clackamas County Tourism and Development Council and in conjunction with their advertising agency, developed and implemented marketing plans to attract tourists to Oregon’s largest and most diverse county. During my six year involvement with the Council, we increased tourism dollars in the county by over 17 million dollars per year on average
