Vehicle Description 1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL Miles:
67,545 VIN:
WDBBA48D0HA072566 Clear Title History:
The first owner bought the car new in New Jersey and immediately shipped it to be registered at his Palm Springs California residence.
It has been a west coast car all its life.
In 2004 at 54,000 miles the second owner took possession of it here in Oregon who I bought it from and he only put 13,411 miles on it in 17 years (Clean Carfax included in the detailed photos).
The majority of people put a high price on low mileage examples, they assume they are buying a new car but I don't subscribe to this as the reality of rubber vulcanization and sitting in a garage unused is incredibly hard on cars and their components.
Weary of this I was extremely excited to see the 2nd owner was as diligent as I like to be on keeping a car up to date on maintenance.
The records on this car are immense and make it truly like buying a new car off the showroom floor in 1987.
I have been around several of these cars through my life and this is one of the most pristine examples I have come across.
Engine & Transmission:
The 5.
6 liter V8 engine is strong and shifts smoothly, the car has a very clean engine bay with attention kept to keep the car original and function as it did leaving the factory.
The underside is very dry, new tires, the A/C works as new and has been converted from R12 to R134a, there is a cost effective way to do the conversion or the correct way and this car was done the correct way.
The main attraction for me besides being a pristine example is the extensive documentation and maintenance records.
The records are too extensive to list out here please see the detailed photos of work orders.
I invite interested buyers to call for a Facetime walk-around or come see it in person.
Bottom line this car is like new.
Body:
Extremely solid, body is in excellent condition, all gaps, rubber, lenses, glass are great.
The original paint (Desert Metallic Taupe) is in show condition, no dens or waviness.
Never been hit, no rust.
Hard top and soft top are in exceptional condition.
I took photos of the car in different lights to show the paint and color.
The trunk area is very nice and solid and comes with spare tire, tools, and jack.
See detailed photos.
Interior:
The interior carpets are great.
Doors are nice.
The original Becker radio was serviced at Becker and woks flawlessly, antenna goes up as down as new.
The second owner installed cup holders in the center console, I did not remove them but he gave me the original carpet piece that goes in that space to put it back to original.
No holes were drilled to install it.
All gauges work as they should, comes with original first aid kit behind seats and original MBZ floor mats.
Very clean cockpit.
Summary:
This is an extremely solid example of a 560SL Mercedes Benz.
The love and commitment put into this car is well documented.
The new owner can have a turnkey car that is fun to drive and stylish as well as the piece of mind that it has been attended too and looked after its entire life rather than a low mileage car that has needs from sitting so long.
This example is perfect for cruising during the week and taking to car shows on the weekend.
This link will take you to additional photos to see the car in greater detail.
